I was born in Grahamstown, raised and schooled in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) Art was always my favourite subject. I returned to Cape Town in 1977 and completed a 3-year Diploma in Interior Design. After working in the industry for 6 years I became self-employed, opening a retail outlet in the then brand new Tyger Valley Mall.
In 1995 I moved to Hermanus with my family and again went into retail. Life took over and I found little time to be creative. My desire to paint was re-awakened after joining an Astar painting group, artists are encouraged to work without planned outcomes or expectations, a liberating experience. My creative expression is a meditative process drawing on subconscious aspects while striving for honesty and simplicity of thought and expression. I am inspired by music, colour and natures abstracts. I use various techniques to manipulate acrylic paint and ink.
My preference is abstract work which I find most challenging. I work from an emotional perspective and want the viewer to read what they will in my work, if you are touched emotionally, then I am happy!
